Mission
The Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall, is a Catholic college preparatory school founded in 1905 by the Sisters of Mercy. Lauralton Hall's unique mission is to foster a community atmosphere enriched by the Mercy tradition and to educate young women to pursue knowledge, recognize truth and respond to the needs of others.

Dear Friend,

It is with enormous pride that I welcome you to the Lauralton Hall website! Founded in 1905 by the Sisters of Mercy, Lauralton Hall is the oldest college-preparatory high school for girls in Connecticut and among the first established in the United States. An independent institution, the school is overseen by a Board of Trustees.

At Lauralton Hall, we offer students not only a rigorous academic experience that develops the skills necessary for success in college and career, but also a supportive, caring and fun-filled environment that nurtures a young woman’s understanding of self and others. Our dedicated faculty and staff are wise role models who help each of our girls to excel and become the person that God created her to be—spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

 Promise
Lauralton Hall is the Catholic, college-preparatory school that empowers a young woman to excel in any endeavor, to find her own voice, and to be a bearer of mercy to those in need.

To this end, students complete a comprehensive, balanced course of studies that prepares them for college, with demanding honors and Advanced Placement courses offered in all academic disciplines. All of our 2010 graduates were accepted at colleges or universities, many to top tier institutions. More than seven million dollars in merit-based scholarships and grants was offered to members of the Class of 2010.

Our young women actively participate in the classroom, on the athletic fields, in campus ministry and outreach programs and many other extracurricular activities. They take leadership roles, learn to take risks and forge friendships that last forever. This active involvement defines our core value of community.

Core Values of a Mercy Education

Compassion and Service

Educational Excellence

Concern for Women and Women’s Issues

Global Vision and Responsibility

Spiritual Growth and Development

Collaboration

Ultimately, a Lauralton Hall education prepares our students for responsible global citizenship in our ever-changing world. We expect our Lauralton graduates to become confident, competent and compassionate leaders who will make a difference in our world. All that we do, both in and out of the classroom, is committed to that end.
