"Christmas in the Mansion" organizers thank 20th anniversary participants

Posted on Dec 15, 2009

We warmly thank the amazing Lauralton community of young women and their families, alumnae and staff for once again coming together in a tremendous effort to present “Christmas in the Mansion” 2009. For the 20th annual event donations for the raffle and gift boutique poured in; volunteer decorators worked endlessly to prepare the buildings and grounds with this year’s “Harps of Gold” theme; students, parents, staff and alumnae baked delicacies for the Bake Shoppe; and volunteers beautifully decorated trees for the Trees of Christmas raffle.

Thank you to the musicians who entertained the guests. Adding to the ambiance of the “Harps of Gold” theme was harpist Jan Baldwin who performed at the Preview Gala.  Preview Gala attendees also enjoyed a selection of Christmas carols sung by the highly esteemed Lauralton Hall choir led by Music Director Margy Sargent. Shoppers were treated throughout the weekend to live jazz music by the Fairfield County Jazz Guild. In addition to many unique exhibitors from throughout the Northeast, there were also two lovely Christmas collections on display. We thank Denise Morris Curt for sharing her beautiful collection of angels, a perfect complement the “Harps of Gold” theme. Thank you also to Karen Zawislak, mother of two Lauralton students, who loaned her private collection of Clothtique Santas for the event.

Preparations for this major annual fundraiser began in the spring and lasted right up to the event weekend. Parents, students, staff and alumnae worked diligently toward a common goal…a successful friend-raiser and fundraiser. Without the dedication of these amazing volunteers, the event could not have been a success.

The Lauralton community appreciates the visiting authors and exhibitors who brought us outstanding works of art, interesting books, exquisite jewelry, one-of-a-kind accessories and most of all, holiday spirit. And we extend a very special thank you to the thousands who visited our campus during “Christmas in the Mansion” weekend.

Finally, we sincerely thank our sponsors and others who contributed to “Christmas in the Mansion” 2009 with financial and in-kind product donations. Please use the link on the upper right side of this page to view the listing of our very generous sponsors.
