Two thousand Connecticut high school students of Latin and Greek, including 22 Lauralton Hall students, participated in State Latin Day on April 28. The Classical Association of Connecticut sponsors the annual event to bring together students and teachers from all over the state for a day of competitions, games, entertainment and fun at Holiday Hill in Cheshire. Dressed in tunics and togas, participants spent the day in a variety of activities including chariot races, academic tests, artistic crafts, projects, sports, Coquus Ferreus” (the Classical Association’s version of Iron Chef), workshops, sports and entertainment. Patricia Doerr, World Language Department Head, wearing a teal palla and JoAnne Piedmont, Latin teacher, in a new white stola with a Tyrian purple palla, accompanied the Lauralton students.

Six students will receive certificates for their scores on the academic tests to be presented  at the upcoming Lauralton Hall Underclass Awards Ceremony.
