SADD representatives attend Hartford Youth Summit
Posted on Mar 11, 2005 Eight representatives of the Lauralton Hall SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapter visited the state capital on March 3 to attend a Youth Summit sponsored by CCSUD (Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking) and the Governors Partnership Program. The day included several presentations and group discussions on the dangers of underage drinking and participation in a mock hearing on Bill # 5655, an act concerning underage drinking. Several Lauralton students were asked to return on March 21 to testify in the actual hearing before the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly. The students then met with Representative Paul Davis, a strong supporter of the bill, to ask questions and get feed back on issues surrounding it. The final activity of the day was an idea swap with other SADD chapters from around the state.
