Seniors plant class tree in celebration of Arbor Day

On May 5, members of the Class of 2005 participated in the annual Arbor Day celebration, a long-standing tradition of all Lauralton Hall graduating classes. The seniors gathered between the grotto and the gym to plant their Arbor Day gift to the school…a Japanese maple. As tradition dictates, the ceremony included the blessing of the tree and refreshments provided by the junior class.

Since 1908, each graduating class has planted a class tree, maintaining a tradition that continues to enhance the beauty and serenity of the Lauralton campus. Members of the Class of 2005, like alumnae in predecessor classes, know that their class tree is a symbol of the Mercy values that have taken root in them, as their tree will take root in Lauralton’s soil.
