Retiring coaches honored with scholarships

Parents, current and past players from the Lauralton Hall basketball and softball teams gathered at Grassy Hill Country Club on May 29 to honor the 17-year basketball and 19-year softball coaching career of Tom McDonald of Fairfield, and the 15-year career of assistant softball coach Charlie Grimshaw of Milford. The event was organized by the parents of current softball players to pay tribute to the winning coaches and to announce two Lauralton Hall scholarships. The Tom McDonald and Charles Grimshaw Softball Scholarship and the Tom McDonald Basketball Scholarship will each be awarded annually to a graduating member of each team. Players and parents alike have already given close to $5,000.
