    <p> Congratulations to Sara Brennan, ’06 who was among thirty of Connecticut’s top students feted at the Ninth Annual Governor’s Scholar Luncheon at the Aqua Turf Club on May 25. Co-sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) and Big Y World Class Markets, the purpose of the program is to recognize academically talented high school students in schools throughout the state and present thirty students for special recognition to the Governor of Connecticut.&nbsp; <BR> </p> <P>All school principals of CAS member high schools are annually given the opportunity to nominate one junior who ranks in the top two percent of his or her class. In addition to the nomination an essay must be submitted by the student and his or her PSAT or SAT scores, GPA and essay are evaluated. As a Connecticut Governor’s Scholar for 2005, Sara was awarded a plaque, a letter from Governor Rell and a check from Big Y. She will be given the opportunity to attend a college level course gratis at one of thirty-one Connecticut colleges or universities.&nbsp; </P>
<P>In addition to this distinguished honor, Sara has earned several awards while at Lauralton Hall. Over three years she has sustained high honors every quarter, and is a member of the Varsity Math Team, National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society. At the Underclass Awards Ceremony held every spring Sara has been presented with the following certificates: Outstanding Achievement in Mathematics (3 years), Outstanding Performance in French (3 years), Excellence in the Study of English Language and Literature (3 years), Excellence for Attitude and Motivation in Chemistry and Exceptional Achievement in Freshman World History and Sophomore Modern World History. Ms. Brennan was also the 2005 recipient of the Princeton University Book Prize given to a student in the top 10% of the junior class who actively participates in extra-curricular life at Lauralton, and the 2005 Rensselaer Medal awarded for outstanding performance in Math and Science. </P>
