    <p> In an October 18th ceremony marked by the traditional lighting of candles, the Lauralton Hall chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 37 new members. &quot;The inductees tonight are a special group, recognized for their academic prowess and attention to community service, leadership, and character,&quot; said Mrs. Pam Boynton, Co-Moderator of the chapter. &quot;We are so very proud of all that the young women have accomplished,&quot; added Mrs. Donna Gibson, Co-Moderator. &quot;It will be our pleasure to watch as they grow and shape their world,&quot; Gibson said.  </p> <P>With its roots dating back to the founding of Lauralton Hall, now celebrating its centennial year, the Academy's chapter of the National Honor Society has lauded the talents of thousands of young women. &quot;To be considered for membership, students must achieve a weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) of 90 or above,&quot; Boynton explained. &quot;In a college preparatory school that can boast the placement of students in major Ivy League colleges and universities across the country, this is an elite group of scholars and role models,&quot; she added. &quot;Students considered for admission must also secure faculty approval in the areas of service, leadership and personal moral character. </P>
<P>Inductees from the Class of 2006 are: Emily Boynton, Lauren Costantini, Sarah Hajtol and Bridget Leahy. Inductees from the Class of 2007 are: Tracey Allen, Jane Becker, Michelle Berglund, Laura Blagys, Ashley Blau, Amanda Bump, Margaux Canevari, Jessica Colucci, Kylie Culnane, Nina Demeter, Stephanie Dillon, Elise Domyan, Juliana Dorset, Morgan Dunne, Kathleen Flaherty, Stephanie Hayes, Jennifer Hill, Kathleen Keenoy, Allison Kirk, Kelly Kopchik, Elizabeth Kopec, Katherine LaBella, Lauren Marmol, Samantha Middlemass, Margaret Miller, Megan Paqua, Lauren Piontek, Katrina Scianna, Rachel Slater, Margaret Steiner, Elizabeth Vail, Allison Vicenzi and&nbsp; Michaela Walsh.</P>
<P>Senior officers Sara Brennan, President; Sarah van Dine, Vice President; Jennifer Bui, Secretary; and Elizabeth Atkinson, Treasurer took on the role of honor guard for the evening. Mrs. Eunica Lasala of Branford graciously served as the guest speaker. A member of the Branford Education Hall of Fame and an animal activist with the Branford Compassion Club, Mrs. Lasala challenged the inductees to &quot;make a strong mark&quot; in their world. Amanda Doerr, a junior, elegantly entertained as the piano accompanist for the evening.<BR>&nbsp; <BR>The Lauralton Hall chapter of the National Honor Society is now 69 members strong. To date, the members have been active fundraisers for the victims of Hurricane Katrina and the Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation. Service projects include the &quot;Homework Helpers&quot; tutoring program that will be offered to a local parochial school, a book drive to supplement area elementary school libraries and a Peer Tutoring program offered to Lauralton Hall students. Mrs. Boynton and Mrs. Gibson, Co-Moderators, are both members of the English department faculty. Mrs. Sue Fracker, a member of the Guidance Department, serves as the Peer Tutor Coordinator.&nbsp; <BR></P> <br />  </div>  </channel>
