Juniors receive class rings

Posted on Oct 08, 2007

On October 4, members of the Class of 2009 gathered with family members for the Junior Ring Ceremony, a very special Lauralton Hall tradition that marks the transition of students from underclassmen to upperclassmen. Ninety-eight juniors received their rings from President Barbara Griffin. The class rings were blessed by Sister Dorothy Synkewecz and the class officers conducted the ceremony. A special touch, and another Lauralton tradition, was the presentation of class rings by alumnae mothers to their daughters: Theresa Luchansky Hausmann,’71 to her daughter Victoria Hausmann, ’09; Mary Miro Klein, ’77 to her daughter Kaitlyn Klein, ’09; and Judy Dallachie Wheaton, ’74, mother of Molly Wheaton, ’09. The juniors and guests also witnessed the class ring presentation to Elizabeth O’Connell, ’09 by her grandmother, Catherine Robstock Greenwood, ’43. After receiving their rings the juniors eagerly began the traditional “ring turn” by relatives and friends for good luck. Following the ceremony, the Junior Class held a reception for their parents in the Claven Auditorium.

The next night, Friday, October 5, the Class of 2009 celebrated together at the Junior Ring Dance. The Claven Auditorium was transformed with turquoise, silver and white balloons and streamers. Chaperones formed a receiving line to greet the juniors and their dates, who then had a wonderful time “dancing the night away” as they concluded the celebrations surrounding the class ring traditions.
