The Lauralton Hall community once again participated in the Christmas giving program sponsored by Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport. The center collects gift certificates to local retailers for distribution to the women it serves and gives them to the women in time for them to select appropriate items for their children and themselves. The suggested retailers include local grocery stores, pharmacies, discount stores and public transportation and communications providers. This program not only gives the women budgeting experience, but also provides them the opportunity to purchase gifts their children have requested.

Members of the Lauralton community generously supported the program by donating more than $1400 in gift certificates or monetary contributions for the purchase of gift certificates! A Lauralton Hall staff volunteer purchased gift certificates with the money that was collected and volunteer students delivered Lauralton’s contributions to Mercy Learning Center.

The Lauralton community is grateful to Dorothy Synkewecz, RSM for organizing this program and appreciates the generous participation of so many who are willing to help those less fortunate during the holiday season.
