The public is invited to Stevens Auto Group, 717-739 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford, on Wednesday, January 7, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm to enjoy a reception in celebration of the exhibit of art by Lauralton Hall students.

The exhibit may be viewed throughout the entire month of January on Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. For more information visit www.stevensauto.com, call Priscilla Lynn at 783-5924 or email plynn@stevensautogroup.com.

All of the engaging works to be displayed in the exhibit were created in Lauralton’s new, state of the art classrooms built recently to help renew and cultivate interest and participation in the visual arts. In the words of school President Barbara Griffin "Lauralton Hall believes that the arts are essential elements of a classic college preparatory curriculum." Visitors will enjoy the impressive display knowing that these student artists are getting the very best and well-rounded education in order to prepare for their futures in college and life.

Art teachers Elizabeth Yarmosh and Judith Doherty not only motivate and encourage young artists to produce expressive artworks in class, but they also supervise an extracurricular Fine Art and Photography Club where students can take part in special projects and excursions. In addition, both teachers make it a point to produce art shows and exhibits both on campus and in the Milford community. This provides the public with an opportunity to experience and appreciate the time, care, and dedication that Lauralton puts into the Fine Arts Program.

Students are offered a variety of ways to express themselves through visual art. Art classes include Fundamentals of Art and Graphic Design for ninth and tenth graders. Juniors and seniors can choose from Ceramics, World Art, Drawing, and Painting. Course offerings also include a special class called Senior Arts Workshop for those students who would like support and advisement in preparing a professional portfolio showcasing their artistic achievements.
