Ninety-eight juniors received their rings from President Barbara Griffin. The class rings were blessed by Sister Dorothy Synkewecz and the class officers conducted the ceremony. A special touch, and another Lauralton tradition, was the presentation of class rings by alumnae mothers to their daughters: Theresa Luchansky Hausmann,’71 to her daughter Victoria Hausmann, ’09; Mary Miro Klein, ’77 to her daughter Kaitlyn Klein, ’09; and Judy Dallachie Wheaton, ’74, mother of Molly Wheaton, ’09. The juniors and guests also witnessed the class ring presentation to Elizabeth O’Connell, ’09 by her grandmother, Catherine Robstock Greenwood, ’43. After receiving their rings the juniors eagerly began the traditional “ring turn” by relatives and friends for good luck. Following the ceremony, the Junior Class held a reception for their parents in the Claven Auditorium.

Event planners who also worked the blood drive registration table included Student Council officers and members. Social Studies teacher and Student Council advisor Patricia Schnepf oversaw the project.

Lauralton parents gathered in the school's mansion on the evening of September 12, where they were welcomed by President Barbara Griffin and members of McAuley Guild, the mothers' club,  at the annual Parent Welcome Reception. Many parents took advantage of this opportunity to connect with other Lauralton parents and volunteer for various working committees for Christmas in the Mansion and McAuley Guild events.

The first event, Project Adventure, included team building activities to introduce and help acclimate the incoming freshmen to each other and their student mentors. The second day focused on making the freshmen feel at home on the school campus.

They will find themselves cheering each other on with great enthusiasm, even though they may have just met! It will be a great opportunity for the freshmen to have fun and meet the classmates with whom they will spend the next four years. The success of the program is evidenced by the incredible cohesiveness and spirit of the Class of 2010 who participated in Project Adventure last year.

Orientation for freshmen will take place the following day, August 29, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

The first day of classes for all students is Tuesday, September 4.
