Students attend MADD Power CampPosted on Aug 13, 2010
Four Lauralton students recently attended the MADD POWER CAMP at Southern Connecticut State University. Student participants were Vincenza Bartholomew, '12; Casey DelBasso, '11; Sarah Macone, '10; and Jillian O'Neil, '11. According to Physical Education/Health Department Chair and SADD moderator Peggy McGowan, “The power camp mission is to train a generation of youth leaders who are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to initiate change to reduce alcohol and drug use and their related harms in their schools and communities. Power Camp provides teens with the opportunity to meet peers from around the state who are working towards the same goal and who are ready for change.” The students found the camp enjoyable and beneficial as evidenced by Jillian O'Neill when she was interviewed by Star 99.9 FM radio station on her experiences with the camp and with Lauralton Hall’s SADD program.
