The Class of 2011 celebrated the traditional 100 Days Dinner on February 16, marking the 100 day countdown to graduation. In attendance were the members of the senior class, administrators and teachers. The evening began with a blessing by Campus Minister Christine Ring, after which guests enjoyed dinner together. Lauralton Hall will host Nikki Giovanni on March 30, at 7:00 p.m. She is the third and final speaker to participate in the inaugural year of the school’s “In-Residence” Program. The program began in October 2010 with a visit from United Nations Director of Mercy Global Concern Deirdre Mullan, RSM, followed in November by Emily Dickinson scholar Dr. Jonnie Guerra. “Residency programs add depth to a school’s usual curriculum,” notes President Antoinette Iadarola. On Saturday, April 2 at 7:00pm, Lauralton Hall will host a presentation by the Irish Heritage Society of Milford of a poetry reading from the newly released international collaborative collection by two award-winning writers, Lisa C. Taylor and Geraldine Mills entitled The Other Side of Longing (Arlen House/Syracuse University Press, 2011). The book will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. Attention to detail and excellent customer service attributes are a must. Prefer strong skills in database management and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs. The Lauralton Hall Concert Choir had the honor of singing at the 2011 New Year’s Day Papal Mass at the Vatican in Rome. Members of the choir were invited by Pueri Cantores, an organization of choirs, to join other Catholic choirs from around the world to ring in the New Year in this joyous celebration. “We were all very excited to take part in this momentous occasion. I would like to thank all the singers for their hard work that earned us this privilege as well as the families who supported our efforts,” stated Margy Sargent, Choir Director and Fine Arts Department Chair. “For the Papal Mass we sang the music of the mass, but for our solo concert at the Basilica of San Giovanni Bosco, we sang pieces from our Christmas concert including Carol of the Bells, Candlelight Carol and African Noel,” continued Mrs. Sargent. The Lauralton Hall Key Club invites senior citizens to a Valentine’s Dance for Senior Citizens on Tuesday, February 15, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school. The show is comprised of portrait, still-life, landscape, and abstract works created in state-of-the-art studios on campus.
