Tradition continues…juniors receive class rings

Posted on Nov 03, 2010

In an October 28th ceremony conducted by junior class officers, class rings were blessed by Dorothy Synkewecz, RSM and presented to members of the Class of 2012 by President Antoinette Iadarola, Ph.D. A long-standing tradition at Lauralton Hall, the presentation of class rings by alumnae mothers added a special touch to the ceremony. Debra Ditullio Amoroso, ’85 presented the class ring to her daughter, Jennifer Amoroso; Eileen Duffy, ’79 to daughter Regan Beem;  Janet Fitzpatrick McCann, ’74 to daughter Erin McCann; Susan Kasper Riccio, ’80 to daughter Catherine Riccio; and Renee Sheahan Sacco, ’76 to daughter Allison Sacco.

This year the juniors and guests had the opportunity to witness three alumnae grandmothers present class rings to their granddaughters, thus highlighting the importance of this very special tradition. Judy Zubko Kubicko, ’62 presented the class ring to her granddaughter Jacquelyn Kubicko; Edna Waters Miller, '41 to her granddaughter Shannon Miller; and grandmother Noreen Earle Morrell, ’54, along with mother Nora Morrell Kwochka, ’81, to Michaela Kwochka.

After the ceremony the juniors eagerly began the traditional “ring turn” by relatives and friends for good luck and hosted a reception for their parents in the Claven Auditorium.

The next evening the Class of 2012 celebrated at the Junior Ring Dance. The Claven Auditorium was transformed with lavender and white balloons, streamers, white lights and gorgeous rose centerpieces. Chaperones formed a receiving line to greet the juniors and their dates who enjoyed the evening as they concluded the celebrations surrounding the class ring traditions.
