Lauralton to host Irish Heritage Society poetry reading on April 2Posted on Feb 10, 2011
On Saturday, April 2 at 7:00pm, Lauralton Hall will host a presentation by the Irish Heritage Society of Milford of a poetry reading from the newly released international collaborative collection by two award-winning writers, Lisa C. Taylor and Geraldine Mills entitled The Other Side of Longing (Arlen House/Syracuse University Press, 2011). The book will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. Taylor is the author of three collections of poetry, most recently Talking to Trees (2007) which was nominated for the L.L.Winship PEN New England Award. Her poetry has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Mills and Taylor struck up a friendship at the Cape Cod Writers’ Conference in 2008. The following year, Lisa was awarded a Surdna Arts Teaching Fellowship to travel to Ireland to explore landscape, culture, and folklore with Geraldine. In the fall of 2009, Geraldine traveled to Connecticut to teach workshops, read, and experience Lisa’s landscape. The result is a co-authored book, The Other Side of Longing (Arlen House/Syracuse University Press, 2011).
