Annual junior and senior retreats held in April

Posted on Apr 16, 2005

Members of the Class of 2006 participated in the annual Junior Retreat on April 11. Representing SON Ministry from Long Island, Frank Maiello and Marian Zahara led the juniors in prayer experiences using music, videos and small group activities. The focus of the retreat was “appreciation,” and the group leaders worked to bring the students from self appreciation as beautiful creations of God to the appreciation of friends and family and, finally, to an appreciation for creation. Frank and Marian demonstrated through personal sharing and dialogue that each one of us has an impact on the world. The juniors created a poster filled with “world problems” and concluded their retreat by covering the problems with images of themselves to show that their gifts and talents can make the world a better place.

The annual Senior Retreat, led by Sr. Patty Ann McCarthy, CND, was held on April 14 at Mercy Center in Madison. The seniors participated in prayer, song, drama and small group activities to bring them to an awareness of the need for justice in our world. These activities helped the students understand that diversity is an important part of our lives and that not all peoples have the same educational and social opportunities. The seniors had time to reflect and share as enjoyed in the beauty and serenity of the retreat grounds.
