Thumbs up to Lauralton HallPosted on Oct 03, 2005
October 1, 2005 Best and the rest for the past week ...a Connecticut Post editorial Thumbs up to Lauralton Hall and all of its students and staff past and present on celebrating the school’s centennial. Founded in 1905 by Sister M. Augustine Claven, the all-girls school has produced some of the most successful women in the region, including U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3. In honor of the anniversary, each student wrote a letter to the Sisters of Mercy on staff thanking them personally for the welcoming and engaging community of Lauralton Hall. Also honored were the faculty of the school, who helped earn Lauralton Hall the reputation as one of the area’s most prestigious all-girls schools. And perhaps best of all, for the students at least, the ceremonies concluded with a declaration by the school’s President Barbara Griffin: no school on Monday.
