Quote: "Today is a turning point in our lives. It is the closing of a chapter in our lives and the opening of another."   --Kathleen Keenoy, valedictorian

With a nod to the past and an eye on the future, family and friends filled the gymnasium at Lauralton Hall Sunday as the school's 97 young ladies received their diplomas in the school's 101st commencement exercises.

Valedictorian Kathleen Keenoy, of Fairfield, told her classmates that often they will learn more from their failures and shortcomings than from their successes.

"Sometimes, the most important successes are those that are a result of dealing with our failures and shortcomings," said Keenoy.

Salutatorian Allison Vicenzi, of Westport, recalled some of the events that helped shape their lives during their four years at the private school, rather than try and give some advice. "I realize 88 percent of the audience is older and wiser than I am," she said.

During the ceremony, the school honored representatives from the class of 1957.
