Fairy Godmother Initiative helps make prom dreams come true

Posted on Apr 22, 2008

Thanks to Lauralton’s Fairy Godmother Initiative, close to 100 Connecticut high school students who might not otherwise have been able to afford a prom dress now feel like princesses.

Crusader Radio club sponsored the student-run initiative, which gave local teens the opportunity to “purchase” new and gently used prom and bridesmaid gowns.  The cost: three non-perishable food items, which were donated to Milford’s Beth-El Homeless Shelter. More than 500 food items were collected.

Members of the LH Cares service club, along with several Lauralton parents, staff, faculty members and other students, donated time to make the event a success. Many regional businesses and agencies also donated dresses, space and other services, making the Fairy Godmother Initiative a real community event.
