New beginning for Summer Academy

Begun in 2003, Summer Academy at Lauralton Hall offers a program of academic instruction in the basic subject areas of math, reading and English, as well as instruction in physical education and art to middle school girls.

The summer of 2008 marked a new beginning for Summer Academy. Lauralton Hall and St. Martin de Porres Academy became partners in this educational venture. The St. Martin girls in grades six, seven and eight attended the two week experience in July.

The faculty was comprised of St. Martin and Lauralton Hall teachers. Under the direction of Ms. Allison Rivera, Director of Special Programs at St. Martin, and Mrs. Peggy McGowan, PE/Health Department Chair at Lauralton Hall, as well as 12 Lauralton student volunteers, 35 St. Martin students enjoyed two weeks of academic enrichment, fun and games.
