Juniors receive class rings

On October 2, members of the Class of 2010 gathered with family members for the Junior Ring Ceremony, a very special Lauralton tradition that marks the transition of students from underclassmen to upperclassmen.  

In a ceremony conducted by the class officers, class rings were blessed by Sister Dorothy Synkewecz and presented to the juniors by President Barbara Griffin. A special touch, and another Lauralton tradition, was the presentation of class rings by alumnae mothers to their daughters: Margaret Casey, ’87 to her daughter Kaila; Megan Lyddy Cotter, ’79 to her daughter Kerrigan, Kathleen Busko Currivan, ’74 to her daughter Ashley; Barbara Judd D’Atri, ’76 to her daughter Olivia; Penny Obuhanick Denos, ’80 to her daughter Cara; Ellen Noonan Macone, ’79 to her daughter Sarah; Jacqueline Lunch Mager, ’78 to her daughter Jennifer; Carol Lyddy O’Connell, ’76 to her daughter Lyddy; and Laura Pinciaro, ’74, to her daughter Bianca Reisling. The juniors and guests were especially blessed to witness Norma Quatrella Marshall, ’49 present the class ring to her granddaughter, April Ann Marshall, highlighting the importance of this very special tradition. After receiving their rings the juniors eagerly began the traditional “ring turn” by relatives and friends for good luck. Following the ceremony, Junior Class members held a reception for their parents in the Claven Auditorium.

The next night, the Class of 2010 celebrated together at the Junior Ring Dance. The Claven Auditorium was transformed into a “Night at the Oscars,” complete with red carpet, black, red and white balloons and streamers. Chaperones formed a receiving line to greet the juniors and their dates, who had a wonderful time “dancing the night away” as they concluded the celebrations surrounding the class ring traditions.
