Art students put smiles on the faces of senior citizensPosted on Dec 16, 2008
Members of Lauralton’s Art Club recently spread some Christmas cheer and brightened the spirits of senior citizens involved the in the Ahrens Program for seniors with disabilities at the Milford Senior Center. Prior to visiting the Senior Center on December 9, club members donated art materials and supplies that they used to create decorated wooden sled centerpieces to spruce up the Ahrens Program room. The senior citizens in the program were thrilled with the decorations and enjoyed visiting with club members Micaela Jawor, ’11, Theresa Keating, ’11, Betty Liu, ’12 and Nadia Oberson, ’12 when they delivered the sleds. Club moderators Liz Yarmosh and Judith Doherty planned this very special activity weeks in advance and are pleased that it not only made some senior citizens very happy, but also provided an opportunity for the students to see first-hand the results of their acts of giving in the smiles on the faces of the seniors. Upcoming Art Department activities include exhibits of student art at two Milford locations: Stevens Ford in January and Cafe Atlantique in February.
