Last chance for a good graduation gift - $100,000 in tuitionPosted on Apr 28, 2009
MILFORD, CT, April 28, 2009 - Looking for a meaningful, life-changing, graduation gift this year? This one is priceless…the opportunity to give a student of any age $100,000 in tuition. The prize money can be used by up to two students. Eligible expenses include tuition, room and board, books and other school-related fees, with the prize money paid directly to the school. The winning ticket is to be pulled at 8:00 p.m. on May 14, at Lauralton Hall. The winner does not need to be present to win. Organizers had originally hoped to sell 2,500 tickets but due to today’s difficult economic times, it looks like sales will not reach the original expectations, making the odds of winning even greater! This chance is too incredible to pass up so anyone who has not bought a ticket should do so today. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at the school weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. by using cash, check or credit card, or by calling (203) 877-2786, ext. 121. Although the raffle is a Lauralton Hall fund-raiser, the fact that the prize can be used for any student to attend any accredited school makes it an exciting community event. The winner has up to four years to name the student or students who will receive the tuition funding, which may include the winner himself, family members or friends. The winner may also choose to view the raffle prize as a philanthropic opportunity, requesting that a specific educational institution recommend appropriate students to receive the award. Although the winnings need to be spent over four consecutive years, payments do not need to commence until the student or students are ready to use the funds. That means depending on who wins the raffle, the funds may be used right away or held for several years. “We view the raffle as a great way to support both Lauralton’s mission and education in general,” said President Barbara Griffin. “We hope it might help someone go to a school he or she could not have otherwise afforded, offering a real golden opportunity.” |
