100 days to graduation for Class of 2011

The Class of 2011 celebrated the traditional 100 Days Dinner on February 16, marking the 100 day countdown to graduation. In attendance were the members of the senior class, administrators and teachers. The evening began with a blessing by Campus Minister Christine Ring, after which guests enjoyed dinner together.  

Distinguished poet Nikki Giovanni "In-Residence" on March 30

Lauralton Hall will host Nikki Giovanni on March 30, at 7:00 p.m. She is the third and final speaker to participate in the inaugural year of the school’s “In-Residence” Program. The program began in October 2010 with a visit from United Nations Director of Mercy Global Concern Deirdre Mullan, RSM, followed in November by Emily Dickinson scholar Dr. Jonnie Guerra. “Residency programs add depth to a school’s usual curriculum,” notes President Antoinette Iadarola. Lauralton parents, alumnae, friends and members of the the public are welcome to attend. Admission is free. 

Lauralton to host Irish Heritage Society poetry reading on April 2

On Saturday, April 2 at 7:00pm, Lauralton Hall will host a presentation by the Irish Heritage Society of Milford of a poetry reading from the newly released international collaborative collection by two award-winning writers, Lisa C. Taylor and Geraldine Mills entitled The Other Side of Longing (Arlen House/Syracuse University Press, 2011). The book will be available for purchase and signing by the authors. Discover Lauralton on April 10 - “See what’s here for you.”

Lauralton Hall will host “Discover Lauralton” for sixth and seventh grade girls and their parents on Sunday, April 10, from 1pm to 3pm.   

Claven XXVIII honorees announced

Seven notable individuals will be honored at the Claven XXVIII Awards Ceremony and Dinner on Saturday, April 30, at the Patterson Club in Fairfield.

Development Assistant position open

The Development Assistant provides a high level of administrative and logistical support to the Office of Development which includes Alumnae Affairs and Public Relations. Attention to detail and excellent customer service attributes are a must. Prefer strong skills in database management and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs. Experience with Razors Edge software is preferred. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment. This is a 12-month position. Video of concert choir's Vatican performance now online

The Lauralton Hall Concert Choir had the honor of singing at the 2011 New Year’s Day Papal Mass at the Vatican in Rome. Members of the choir were invited by Pueri Cantores, an organization of choirs, to join other Catholic choirs from around the world to ring in the New Year in this joyous celebration. “We were all very excited to take part in this momentous occasion. I would like to thank all the singers for their hard work that earned us this privilege as well as the families who supported our efforts,” stated Margy Sargent, Choir Director and Fine Arts Department Chair. “For the Papal Mass we sang the music of the mass, but for our solo concert at the Basilica of San Giovanni Bosco, we sang pieces from our Christmas concert including Carol of the Bells, Candlelight Carol and African Noel,” continued Mrs. Sargent. 

Final performance of "Done to Death" moved to February 11

Done to Death, a comedy by Fred Carmichael will be presented in the Claven Auditorium on Saturday, February 5, at 7:30pm; Sunday, February 6, at 2:30pm; and Friday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m. These performance schedule changes became necessary because several rehearsals were missed due to recent school cancellations for inclement weather.

Seniors Valentine Dance set for February 15

The Lauralton Hall Key Club invites senior citizens to a Valentine’s Dance for Senior Citizens on Tuesday, February 15, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the school. There is no admission fee for this afternoon of fun featuring free dance lessons, line dancing and refreshments. 

Student art on exhibit at Milford Library

The Fine Arts Department is pleased to present a display of student art work during the month of February at Milford Public Library. The show is comprised of portrait, still-life, landscape, and abstract works created in state-of-the-art studios on campus. The students have expressed themselves in such media as pencil, pen and ink, pastel, colored pencil, and acrylic.
