Area 7th grade girls enjoy Science OlympicsPosted on May 16, 2005 Lauralton Hall’s May 14th Science Olympics for area seventh grade girls was a phenomenal success. Participants from several Connecticut towns competed in four events including topics from chemistry, biology/population studies and physics. Everyone’s favorite was identifying a strange new chemical that acted like both a liquid and a solid. The students also enjoyed the general topics challenge that involved questions from many science fields including meteorology, geology, chemistry, physics and pharmacology. Congratulations to the top team competitors of the day:
The day concluded with fun science demonstrations by Gina Landini, ’05, who exhibited the principles of force and electricity by using glow-in-the-dark balls, inflated balloons with chemicals (not air) and shocked all present by skewering a balloon that never popped!
