Science labs & art room construction underway

Exciting renovation and expansion projects are taking place at Lauralton Hall this summer. Three new science labs will be constructed in the school building--one on each floor. In addition, two of the labs currently on the second floor will be converted to art studios to take advantage of their natural light.

MILFORD - When Rosemarie Halapin attended Lauralton Hall in the 1950s, the uniforms were ankle length, no strapless dresses were allowed at dances and just because they were girls, basketball was played on a half-court.

LH students volunteer at annual skin cancer awareness fund raiser

For the last three years, the Bob Cooke Skin Cancer Foundation has focused its fundraising activity on an annual run/walk/bike event in Milford, Connecticut. Hundreds of participants attended the events, raising tens of thousands of dollars for skin cancer research and education. From the beginning, Lauralton students have volunteered to help make the events successful. This year’s event, held in Milford on May 20, was no exception.

Three notable women received Lauralton Hall’s highest honor--the Claven Award--at the school’s 26th annual Claven Awards Ceremony and Dinner on April 28.

Choir leaves for presidential performance

MILFORD • Choir members at Lauralton Hall left Thursday on a field trip of sorts that required individual clearance from the U.S. Secret Service.

The girls, members of the school’s advanced vocal ensemble and concert choir, needed the clearance because they will perform Sunday before President Bush at ceremonies in Jamestown, Va., which was founded 400 years ago and is believed to be the birthplace of modern America. 

Environmental Club presents earth-conscious fashion show

Lights flashing, models strutting, audience applauding, students wondering: "is that dress constructed completely of garbage bags?"  On May 3, with the customary navy jumpers thrown aside, Lauralton Hall's Environmental Club proudly presented their own earth-conscious twist on fashion shows. 

Latin students excel in national exam

Eight Latin students achieved excellence on the competitive National Latin Exam. More than 149,000 Latin students from all 50 states and 13 other countries competed for top scores on the annual exam, which was sponsored by the American and National Junior Classical Leagues.
