Imagine, for a second, that you're Erin Daley. You grew up in lacrosse-mad Darien with the school just a stone's throw from your home. But when it comes time for high school, instead of enrolling at Darien High, your parents decide that attending Lauralton Hall - 30 miles up the road in Milford - is the best option. And if that wasn't enough, a couple years later in what would have been your junior year, Darien wins its first girls lacrosse state championship while your team is struggling to simply qualify for the state tournament. Logic would dictate you'd be a little upset, right? 



Career Day offers more than 35 presenters

More than 35 women--alumnae, moms, aunts, grandmothers and friends of Lauralton participated as Career Day presenters on April 9. These women talked about their careers, as well as their education choices, sharing some of the life lessons they have learned. The event included a wide range of presentations on the careers of these very diverse and vital women.   



Father of twins sees opportunity for $100,000 college tuition

MILFORD, Conn. - With the average cost of attending a private, four-year college now at more than $32,000 a year, Robert Woods sees spending $100 for the chance to win $100,000 in tuition as nothing but an opportunity.



Semi-formal Dance a big hit

The Student Council sponsored Semi-formal Dance for freshmen and sophomores was held on March 28 at Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange. Students arrived ready to introduce their dates to their teachers, enjoy appetizers and delicious desserts and “dance up a storm.” Black and white décor beautifully showcased the masquerade ball dance theme. Guests danced from the minute they entered until the last dance of the evening at 11:00 p.m.



$100,000 college tuition raffle possible due to change in state law

MILFORD, Conn.--Thanks to a change in state law that Lauralton Hall staff members helped lawmakers execute, individuals have the chance to win $100,000 in tuition that can be used to attend any accredited K-12, college or graduate school in the United States.



SADD car crash held on campus

A mock car crash and City of Milford emergency response drill took place on the Lauralton Hall campus on April 2, illustrating to students how drunk driving can change and end lives. The emergency drill provided emergency professionals with need-to-know information on quickly and effectively responding to this kind of accident. The display and drill were the only events of their kind in Milford this prom season. 



Sophomores ready to make history

LH students held four Youth & Government spots

Lauralton Hall seniors held four of the top five state offices--including governor--at the competitive YMCA Youth and Government State Convention March 7 - 9 at the State Capitol in Hartford:
Samantha Free - Governor
Caroline Raccuia - Secretary of State
Thelma Santiago - Speaker of the House
Audrey Ready - Attorney General 



Students inducted into World Languages Honor Society

A festive international dinner celebrated the induction of fourteen new members into Lauralton Hall’s World Languages Honor Society. Welcomed on March 12, 2008 into Lauralton’s French, Spanish and Latin honor societies were:
