Lauralton Hall’s Advanced Vocal Ensemble will travel later this month to Jamestown, Virginia to represent Connecticut as part of America’s 400th Anniversary celebration. Under the direction of Music Director Margy Sargent, Lauralton students are planning a May 11-13 visit to Virginia, where they will be part of a 1,607-member chorus made up of high school students from each of the 50 states. Queen Elizabeth and President Bush are among those expected to attend the performance. Lauralton was the only Connecticut high school chosen to perform at this historic event, which will honor the 1607 founding of Jamestown, Virginia, the first permanent English settlement in what would become the United States.
