Since September 12, 1905…celebrating 100 years of caring

On September 12, 1905 Mother Augustine Claven, with a small band of Sisters of Mercy, opened the doors of the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall to the first group of young women who came to the Milford campus to be educated.

New voicemail system installed

To provide more efficient phone communication, a new voicemail system has been installed at Lauralton Hall. Callers are now offered a menu of options including sub-directories by last name and by administrative office, providing the opportunity to locate extension numbers for administrators and staff. Faculty members do not have voicemail, so their messages should be left with the main office receptionist. Please note that when school is open, callers always have the option to press “0” at any time to reach the main office receptionist.

Meadows to coach Lauralton soccer

Luke Meadows has been hired to coach the Lauralton Hall soccer team, replacing long-time coach Alison Gottsegen. “We are very excited to have Luke on staff. His soccer knowledge will be a great asset to the girls,” stated Joe Tonelli, Director of Athletics.

Online Student Art Gallery open for viewing

The Lauralton Hall Online Student Art Gallery is a changing exhibit of Lauralton Hall student art work from the past to the present including a collection of ceramics, drawings and paintings created over the last ten years. On display are seven galleries of work by students who are presently studying art at Lauralton Hall as well as the works of many talented graduates, some of whom have gone on to pursue further studies in art. The collection includes stained glass, acrylic, oil paint and clay in a variety of subject matters.

 

All are invited to visit often to enjoy this online gallery as it will be constantly changing and growing throughout the coming semesters.

STRATFORD - Tom McDonald took renewed interest in vacuuming Friday morning, followed by some light dusting. When those chores were done, he took his dog Amanda for a walk, read and re-read the newspaper, then flipped on the television for further diversion.

MILFORD - Deanna LeRose returned to the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy Lauralton Hall Sunday for the first time since her graduation from the Catholic women's school 50 years ago.

Banners proclaim Lauralton's Centennial

The front of the Lauralton Hall administration building has been draped with a huge colorful banner to coordinate with banners that line the drive and enwrap the circle proclaiming the upcoming Lauralton Centennial. The banners announce that Lauralton is embarking upon a remarkable Centennial celebration and they will remain in place throughout the 2005-2006 school year as proud, festive sentinels.

Sara Brennan recognized as Connecticut Governor’s Scholar

Congratulations to Sara Brennan, ’06 who was among thirty of Connecticut’s top students feted at the Ninth Annual Governor’s Scholar Luncheon at the Aqua Turf Club on May 25. Co-sponsored by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS) and Big Y World Class Markets, the purpose of the program is to recognize academically talented high school students in schools throughout the state and present thirty students for special recognition to the Governor of Connecticut.
