World Languages students receive accolades

A festive international dinner celebrated the induction of new members into Lauralton Hall’s World Languages Honor Society. Students welcomed were:
French—Molly Viner, ’09 and Taylor Williams, ’10.
Spanish—Andrea Borjas, ’10, Kaitlyn Breunich, ’10, Felicia Carlini, ’09, Sara Johnson, ’09, Monica Laskos, ’10, Sara Murillo, ’09, Amanda Rodrigues, ’10 and Julia Turner, ’09.

Students earn gold at Lauralton Science Olympics

Middle school girls from throughout Connecticut recently built a fork lift and met owls, falcons and hawks to learn first-hand about predator-prey relationships during Lauralton Hall’s annual spring Science Olympics held this year on May 17.

New Youth & Government officers elected

Junior Livia Fry was recently elected president of Lauralton Hall’s Youth & Government Club for the 2008-09 school year. Other students elected to lead this popular group include juniors:

MILFORD - Garbage bags, old umbrellas and duct tape took the place of the usual uniforms in adorning the nearly 30 Catholic schoolgirls who worked the "catwalk" Thursday at the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy, Lauralton Hall. 

Lauralton teacher to headline Irish concert May 17

Lauralton Hall Religion teacher Damien Connolly, an award-winning accordion and melodeon player, will headline a Shamrock Traditional Irish Music Society concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17. 

Science Olympics set for May 17

To promote science education for girls, Lauralton Hall has created Science Olympics for Girls. The theme for the event is “Science is FUN!”  It is the school’s hope that participants will enjoy themselves while applying the basic themes of science in a practical, experimental context.  

$100,000 in college tuition the perfect graduation gift

MILFORD, CONN. - Gift cards and cash are ranked as the top graduation gifts, though few Class of 2008 graduation cards are likely to contain $100,000 in college tuition.

However, the opportunity to give a student $100,000 in tuition to attend any accredited college, graduate or K-12 school in the United States is now possible, thanks to a first-of-its-kind raffle that will be drawn on May 21. And as far as West Haven resident Barbara Wolfe is concerned, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

For selling the most ducks in the Milford Catholic Elementary Schools’ first annual Milford Harbor Duck Race, Katie was awarded a raffle ticket that could lead to her winning $100,000 in tuition to attend any accredited K-12, college or graduate school in the United States.

Fairy Godmother Initiative helps make prom dreams come true

Thanks to Lauralton’s Fairy Godmother Initiative, close to 100 Connecticut high school students who might not otherwise have been able to afford a prom dress now feel like princesses.
