Trash-free-lunch marathon celebrates America Recycles Day
International Fair a smash hit!
The French, Latin and Spanish Clubs provided the entire student body with a unique, noteworthy, cultural experience on November 16. The language clubs, along with the World Language teachers, labored many hours to create an event that turned out to be highly successful. Games, crafts and food were featured at booths created by the language clubs, each with a unique offering.
Don’t miss “Christmas in Song” on December 15
Lauralton Hall’s annual highly-anticipated Christmas concert, “Christmas in Song,” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, in the Parsons Complex auditorium, 70 West River St, Milford.
All are invited to attend this free event, which will feature members of Lauralton’s Concert Choir, Advanced Vocal Ensemble, Freshman Choir, and Instrumental Ensemble. Voluntary donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted at the door to be given to local, needy residents.
National Honor Society inducts new members
In a November 5th ceremony marked by the traditional lighting of candles, the Lauralton Hall chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 46 new members, 5 seniors and 41 juniors. "The inductees tonight are a special group, recognized for their academic prowess and attention to community service, leadership, and character," said Pam Boynton, Co-Moderator of the chapter. "We are so very proud of all that these young women have accomplished," added Christine Cook, Co-Moderator. "It will be our pleasure to watch as they grow and shape their world," Mrs. Cook said.
Students benefit from informative assemblies
Two informative sessions were presented to Lauralton Hall students on November 19. Tasked with identifying and sponsoring interesting, informative, entertaining programs for students, the Student Enrichment Committee presented SurvivetheDrive®, an automotive safety education program, for juniors and seniors. An independent, not-for-profit, educational organization, SurvivetheDrive provides risk-awareness and safe-driving presentations to school groups. Using letters from students, testimonials, tips for teen drivers, personal anecdotes, props, slide shows and graphic demonstrations, SurvivetheDrive founder Bob Green kept the students focused on safe driving. He said, “it’s all about behavior, understanding, attitude and responsibility behind the wheel. Every driving error (inadvertent, unintentional, choice or judgment) has the potential for violent consequence.”

Lauralton Hall student-athletes Keylantra Langley and Courtney Collins signed National Letters of Intent Thursday to attend Division I schools.
Barn restoration underway
The first stages of stabilizing and restoring the unique Lauralton barn began under the expertise and craftsmanship of Kronenberger & Sons Restoration, a company committed to restoring such national treasures such as Gillette Castle in East Haddam, Florence Griswold House in Old Lyme and Mark Twain’s former Hartford home.

Spirit Week culminates with traditional pep rally
There was an abundance of school spirit surrounding the annual celebration of Spirit Week during the week of November 9. Festivities began with Cartoon Character Day, followed by TA Theme Day and Decade Day when freshmen dressed to represent the 1950s, sophomores the '60s, juniors the '70s and seniors the '80s. Outfits were outrageous, creative, fun and funny!
Reception kicks off Annual Giving Campaign
A successful parent reception to kick off the 2009-2010 Annual Giving Campaign was held in the Claven Auditorium on November 3. President Toni Iadarola addressed nearly 50 Lauralton parents with the shared vision for Lauralton’s future, which was received enthusiastically. She urged those present to participate with personal financial commitments and asks all Lauralton Hall parents to make Lauralton a priority among their voluntary charitable giving this year.
